I have noticed that in some old Roman Catholic families, there are many Marys and many Josephs.

There are lots of naming books, including those giving the meanings of names, but I am more interested in the emotional meanings of the names we give. When I named my children, I had a mental picture of each one that included my hopes and dreams for them. What series of thoughts and dreams led to your name, or those you named? If you've had the privilege and responsibility of naming someone, how did you choose?
